Kevin Cornwell was born and raised in a working class pub in the Small heath area of Birmingham. A strong passion and love of football in his younger years influenced Kevin to pursue a career in the beautiful game.

As a prolific goal scorer, Kevin created a name for himself, which caught the attention of professional side Oxford United, where he transferred to them from neighbours Banbury in 1962. Playing professional football eventually took its toll. Kevin’s knees suffered from injury and in his later years, Alzheimers was diagnosed, possibly a result of him heading the hard, leather ball into the goal mouth on many occasions. Kevin is often recognised around Oxford town centre and remembered as one of the team that memorably took Oxford into the football league in 1962.

This book is in memory of Kevin’s past and present, capturing many priceless moments that he can sadly no longer recall.
